- Uiseong was the ancestral home of a tribal nation called "Jomuguk" that existed before the unification to Silla in the 2nd year of King Beolhyu of Silla.
- Uiseong was the home of a tribal nation called 'Munso-gun' in the 16th year of King Gyeongdeok of Silla
- Upgraded to Uiseong-bu early in the Goryeo Dynasty
- Became Uiseong-gun in the 32nd year of King Gojong of the Josoen Dynasty
- Uiseong-myeon was elevated to 1 eup and 16myeons on Nov. 1, 1940.
- Ansa branch office was elevated to 1 eup and 17 myeons on Apr. 1, 1980.
